For the third year, Parallel Collective Gallery presents SLASK, a four-week art calendar in the darkest weeks of December. The theme for 2026 is FROSSA.
frossa, noun and verb
- noun: the body’s response to cold or fever; shivering, goosebumps, chattering teeth.
- verb: to indulge without restraint; to enjoy without limit, to take more than you need.
Art history has a long tradition of abundance, from the overflowing shelves of the cabinet of curiosities to salon walls hung from floor to ceiling. FROSSA takes that tradition as its starting point and asks what it means to collect, to show and to take in more than one can grasp. Moderation has no place here.
This is the open call. The gallery is looking for artists, performers and collectives who want to interpret FROSSA, in any medium and any form. No proposal is too much.
Format
Four weeks, four takeovers. Each week a different artist, group or collective takes over the gallery with an exhibition, a performance, a concert, a dinner, a market, or something that has no name yet.
The week
- Monday to Wednesday: build-up
- Thursday: vernissage
- Thursday to Sunday: open to the public
- Sunday evening: take-down
The four weeks
- Week 1: vernissage Thursday 26 November (23 to 29 November)
- Week 2: vernissage Thursday 3 December (30 November to 6 December)
- Week 3: vernissage Thursday 10 December (7 to 13 December)
- Week 4: vernissage Thursday 17 December (14 to 20 December)
Who can apply
Artists, performers, musicians, poets, cooks, collectives, and anyone else who wants to interpret FROSSA. Any medium, any form. Artists based outside Sweden are welcome to apply.
What the gallery provides, and what is expected
Selected participants have the gallery for their week, with help and advice from the team. Participants arrange their own transport and installation, hang and install their work independently, and keep the gallery open on at least two of the four public days. Participants based outside Sweden cover their own travel and expenses; the gallery can offer accommodation close to the gallery.
How to apply
Use the form below: a short description of the proposal, a few images or links to previous work (a website or Instagram is enough), and the week or weeks you are available.
Deadline: Monday 26 October 2026, 23:59. Selected participants are announced shortly after the deadline.
Location: Parallel Collective Gallery, Svartensgatan 10, Stockholm.
