Home is where her horror is, a solo exhibition by Jenna Gillinger, is a critical examination of the domestic sphere: the home situated within structures of intimacy, control and society, and a reflection on how private spaces are shaped by social realities.
Two works anchor the exhibition. Osynlig (Invisible) hangs a transparent surface in the room to expose the invisibility of women, its cross-stitch fastening a tribute to the invisible artwork of women, its alarming red raised like a warning finger. It is made of fully recycled acrylic plastic, steel pipe and nylon thread. Text TV, a video installation, collects authentic comments about women subjected to violence, drawn from the media, from interrogations and from trials.
The exhibition opened with a vernissage on 5 February and ran until 15 February, Thursday and Friday 16:00 to 20:00, Saturday and Sunday 13:00 to 16:00. Together, as the gallery wrote after the opening night, we spread knowledge and awareness about violence in close relationships.
