Agnes Lindvall works with sculpture and installation, drawing on metalworking techniques that include smithing, hydroforming and enameling. In Mwah she explores mass consumerism through ugly cute sea creatures, combining the grotesque and the adorable.
With their exaggerated sentimental or commercialized aesthetics, the works probe the boundaries between high and low culture and carry a disconcerting familiarity, an interplay of attraction and repulsion. Lindvall investigates the strange and eerie nature of these objects, opening a dialogue around the tensions between beauty, value and meaning in a world shaped by mass consumption.
