A logo in blue light, an artwork on the bench outside and a ceramic beer tap with free beer for life: the permanent collection our friends have built into the gallery.
Most of what we show at Svartensgatan 10 leaves after a few weeks. Some things stay, and slowly the gallery itself has become a collection.
It began with light. In June 2025, Josefin Eklund gave the gallery its glow: our logo, drawn by Kajsa Frisk, realized as a light in Parallel Collective Blue. Her design enlightens us all, as we put it at the time, and it has kept doing so ever since.
In the autumn the collection stepped outside. Malin Viklund installed her piece Iakta on the upgraded bench in front of the gallery, art for you to enjoy even when we are closed. We raised a glass to it on the last Friday of October, the same evening Sho Asakawa held his artist talk inside.
Then, in February 2026, the collection grew a tap. Ceramic artist Sebastian Hägelstam, whose work often touches on power structures within western popular culture and how objects can carry and project colonial views, made the gallery its own ceramic beer tap. At the premiere on 19 February, Tofta Brewing Company poured ice cold beer through it, Hägelstam showed works in the gallery, and a strictly limited run of his porcelain beer cups went on sale, each one including free beer for life from Parallel’s new tap.
We thanked him with a place in what we call our gallery of fame collection, and we mean the permanent part: a blue light, a bench that works at three in the morning, and a beer tap with lifetime privileges attached. The art moves through. The room keeps some of it.
